I know this will sound daft, but hear me out.

When I am driving on the bypass, so at high speeds, I get this wind rushing noise.

NOT the usual noise of simply wind rushing past, but it sounds like it is catching on something and causing resistance.

Now I'm sure Fiat wouldn't build a car with this. It sounds like it is coming from the front left of the windscreen. I have had a look and cant see anything out of the ordinary.

Is it a regular thing on mk1s, or is it something which is out of place on mine?

are you sure its not the radio arieal?

Mines a pain in the ass, u can always hear it above 40mph, mind u, i havent tried pushing it down further rather than it sticking up so much so only have myself to blame lol

I havent thought of that, I'll check it tonight, but it certainly sounds like its coming from around the from of the windscreen. Scuttle panel area maybe.

Could it be your wipers causing the noise?
I get a wooshing noise when I go over 60 because the seal around my doors aren't what they used to be :(
The doors ad the wipers are two of the things I thought, along with the hinge in the wing mirror. How would I check?

I was thinking of getting the flat blades as I need new blades anyway...

Hi, Try removing the wiper blades and arms for a test drive on a dry day. For the mirror hinge, try temporaraly applying some electrical tape. Also check the rubber trims fitted around the windscreen for gaps where air can whistle. Have you worked on the wiper motor? Is it like the Mk2 Punto where the plastic scuttle can be fitted incorrectly and so cause wind noise.

I tried using the wipers tonight as moving them would surely change the pitch of the whoosh, but it didnt do anything. Ill take them off tomorrow if its dry. I'll have a look around the doors and do the mirror and aerial as well.

I have had a look at the scuttle panel, and thought I had got it with a bit of the window rubber which was over it instead of under, but that didnt make any difference.

I think it may be my passenger door not shutting properly.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Did someone do the "pull the door top out to get in the car" deal?

Ivor
I dont know.

I have only had the car for 6 months, but not as far as I know. I bought it off someone I know, and he told me everything which was wrong, guess this isnt wrong as such though.

I had both my doors done by some wee f***kers just prior to christmas, don't s'pose anyone knows a fix to get rid of the mad wind noise?

doors close ok, but are a bit buckled and the fit to the seal ain't what it used to be...
