Hi, when pulling away or reversing there is a loud soundin rattle coming from under the car nearer the back than front. Would this be a faulty bracket causing the exhaust to rattle or could it be something else. Cheers

Is it from the back or mid-back? The reason I ask is that the protective cover on the catalytic converter (mk1) is just spot-welded on, and can come loose and rattle. If it is that, it is worth getting fixed since mine fell off and punctured my brand-new rear tyre.

I would say its more mid back rather than at the very back. I got a 1.2 mk2, not sure if it made different to yours.

I would recommend rattling parts of your exhaust and looking for loose bits. Make sure it has cooled first though of course.

The cat cover is towards the mid-back, and should have perforations in it, so it looks more liek a grille

On the mk2, the cat is on the downpipe i.e just after the exhaust manifold, in the bottom of the engine bay.

The rattle sounds like a knackered centre or rear silencer box, caused by the baffles inside coming apart and rattling around inside.

Either that or, if you had a replacement exhaust that was not the original fiat part, the back box can foul on the rear axle.

Get under and move the exhaust and see where its coming from. You may have only a rear silencer or a centre one as well, if either is making the noise, get it replaced.
