I wonder if anyone can help with a query about my friend's 02 Punto Active ( I think it's an 8 valver). He says that the fuel consumption is quite high but it then improves in hotter weather. I would suspect that a temperature sensor is playing up although I'm no expert. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've found that I get better fuel economy in the summer, since it takes less time for the car to warm up, and so the choke is on for less. Also the ECU probably adjusts for the temperature a bit to make the car run smoothly, but economically in all conditions. So as far as I'm concerned your friend has nothing to worry about...

I manage to flatten out the mpg over the year by using the more grip in summer and going faster as a result!

i would worry if it was a fair bit...how much mpg is he getting?

if it isnt a substantial amount shouldnt be a problem

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend break in Torquay. We went down in my 53 Punto Sporting from Derby on Friday morning, cruising at between 80 and 95 mph down the M5. We did a lot of local touring and have just got back doing the same sort of speeds as when we went down.
It has returned 48.9 mpg.

By the way, while we were down there some b*?><rd stole the colour coded valve dust caps.
