hello
i have a 1.2 punto 1999. i have not had any trouble with it for 2 yrs and all since october it has gone down hill
october, new clutch
december, new water pump and battery
jan, head went.
i got it back this sat and drove back from garage about 10mile and went to shop. come back out went to start it and nothing. just sounds like battery is dead. when engine goes cold it starts again. as soon as engine warm and switch off try and start again no luck.
took back to garage and he said it sounded like timing was out. he checked it and had a fiddle and said it would be ok. drove it home parked up and 2 mins later went to go out and wont start again. have to wait for engine to go cold.
still not right, anyone else had the same problem???

oh and i dont know if this is relivant or not but i only have the one key the red one. i have read on here that i should not be using this key all the time.
is this true?
sometimes the key light stays on, but not very often. and once i take key out and start engine again the light goes out.

im pulling my hair out, had views but no help :(

If the key code light wont go out it wont start. I've heard all sorts of rumours, red key should be used as your master key, kept as a spare incase you ever need code/cutting again. Have you got a blue key?

Sounds like a packed up starter motor to me tbh.
If you turn the key not fully but enough to have lights/stereo etc come on, are the lights dim or bright on the dash?

hi
the code light goes out only very rare it stays on. and when it does stay on it still drives ok.
i dont have a blue key, only a red.
the lights are all ok when engine not fully started. not going dim or anything. my dad checked this as he though alternator (i think that is what he called it). and that was all ok.
the only problem is starting when the engine is hot. it starts first time if engine is cold. and runs ok.
any ideas???
thank you
