Hi all; ive just changed the exhaust system(2 piece,1 box) plus cat(maniverter)on my punto,i shopped about and got everything including gaskets and rubbers for £213. I was going to refit the old sensors but they have been wielded to the old cat(great! i thought it was going to cheap and easy).
This brings me to my question. There are 2 sensors, 1 pre and 1 post cat, are these the same?(my haynes manual just calls them pre and post cat lambda sensors) anyone know the part numbers? are these the universal type? (prob not as these are a lot cheaper). I phoned 2 of my usual motor parts/factors shops and gave them my reg and there systems both came back only showing 1 lambda sensor(this makes me think their the same type(but for different length leads). It took 2 hours and saved about £200, who needs k fit(my toes are still numb as it was -2,anything to save a quid) cheers for your responces, tony..

Yes they are the same. Pre and post exactly the same. Same for all cars but they have different connectors, so if you get a universal one you will need to cut the connectors off the old ones and connect them up to the new ones. Beware of cheap sensors though as they dont seem to last as long as the 'proper' ones. Try a local breakers or scrap yeard, have a look if they are in good ish condition and checki mileage of the car they are on if possible (they usually say they have a life of around 60000 miles)
