Hi,

Just thought I would seek some help if I may? The problem is, my coolant is running low (at the minimum level) and I was wondering if its ok to just top the coolant level up with fresh stuff?

Whats put me off is, I have been searching and reading some of the threads here and people have been talking about a full coolant flush where you have to get some clip from fiat as once you disconnect the hose thats it broken. Is that right?

So all in basically, what is better for the car as a whole. Just a top up of fresh coolant or am I better taking it to the dealer and asking them to flush it?

If flushing it is going to be better does anyone have any idea what the cost would be thereabouts?

Thanks for any help on this matter. :)

Cheers! :D

Just flush it yourself, it takes 30 minutes tops. Cooleant should be changed every second year or so, but most people just top up. I had a sierra for 14 years and I never changed and I never was anything wrong with it.
IF you flush the engine you have to get new clips to hold the hose to the radiator.

hi, well first of all there is no need to get a clip from a fiat dealer, a jubilee clip will do just fine. There is no harm in just topping up with fresh anti freeze, however with winter approaching it may be better to start afresh and change the whole lot. Its straight forward enough tho, if you have a haynes manual it tells you in there how to do it.

I'm No Mechanic, But I Bought A Haynes Punto Manual And Did It Myself. If Your Going To Change The Coolant (every 2 Years) You Might As Well Flush Out The Engine And Radiator, Depending On How Old The Car Is, Replace The Thermostat. Fiat Recommend Dilution Of Your Coolant At 50% Water To Coolant. The Process Of Changing Your Coolant Is Not A Hard One. In Relation To Your Clip, Just Use A Jubilee Clip. A Good Motor Factors Will Assist You In Clips, coolant, Advice And Thermostat (optional).

Thanks for the help guys. Much Appreciated. :D

I'll pop down to Halfords or somewhere and take a look and see if they have any of the Punto Haynes Manuals in stock. :) Might even save me a few quid in the long run! :)

just my personal opinion but i would never put fresh antifreeze or flush the cooling system on a punto 55/60 unless absolutely neccary unless you have just replaced the headgasget.
