Hello
I have just bought a air horn for my car.

However I don't want to run it off the current horn circuit so can I run it on a separate switch.

I have already got a switch installed in the car above the driver side fuse box with wires running to the front of the car. (Was for another project that went wrong :()

Can I run the switch as just an in-line push switch direct from battery?

The horn came with a relay and I heard it is advisable to use this relay so that the switch does not have a battery live into it!

Thanks

Chris

would be best running the wire of another live cable, i.e the radio..

but can i ask why would you want to horns...

I do have the live behind the radio doing nothing its disconnected and replaced with a live ignition wire; so it tuns off with ignition.

So run the switch inline with the live and the horn?
Will the horn not draw too much current?

The new horn is a dixie horn.
I still want my normal horn aswell.

The mature part said keep the normal horn incase!

horns dont take that much power when not used.. and if you connect it to the live behind the radio it can be turned of with the ignition and save power from the battery...

Air horns use a shed load more power than a standard electro-diaphragm horn....

you could take the live switch feed off the back of the HU you wont need a ground to the switch (unless you have a switch with a light)

this is for a set of fogs but should explain how to wire it with a relay

If it runs from a relay then the relay will be off when the relay is off and the switch would have to be pressed to activate the relay.

I think thats how its gonna work
