so why is it so difficult as people say? i really dont know why you can just mark it with tippex like the 8v, and fit new belt on exactly the same as the old one, i always hearing people saying you need proper tools etc... but why if it goes on the same position as the old one

cant you just replace it without undoing the camshaft pulley? did this on my 1.8 16v escort, i was meant to undo both cam pulleys, but i just put new belt on and it was fine.

surely if the you dont move the pulley it will be as it was with the new belt on before

http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/cambelt-guide.htm

this guide doesnt say anything about adjusting the camshaft? just seems to say do it as a 8v

gust because there is a guide on the net dont mean its right. reason that yellow car came to me with a dead engine was because they timed belt with out the tools.

you can come do yours on my drive an use my tools one day if you like, Daryl dont work weekends no more. but i not letting the tools leave here, lost too many tools that way

or you could ask peter if you can pop down canvy and use his tools on site

When I did my Sporting belt a couple of years ago, I just bought the cam locking tools. Even then, I only used one to lock the exhaust cam as I didn't see the need to remove the inlet manifold to lock the inlet cam as it's geared to the other cam. I just got four lengths of wooden dowel to use as piston height tools. Easy job - if you use (at least some of) the right tools.
