hey everyone, i have a mk2 punto that has developed a sound that can only be desribed as a 'squeal' coming from the drivers side front wheel. the sound is intermittent and only develops after about 5mins into a journey. As soon as i touch the brakes it goes away but returns. could anyone shed some light on the possible cause. cheers.

I have had this problem, for me it would only squeal if i turned the wheel slightly, if i gave it a good turn there would be no problem but if you "adjusted" it then it would squeal. It went away then came back and fingers crossed it went and hasn't returned but I would also like to know what was causing it.
I couldn't pinpoint exactly which wheel but it was one of the front ones.

I had the same problem some months ago.Took it to garage, were they freed up the caliper, had no trouble since.

cheak the stone guard behind the caliper... if its close to the disc, it will squeal once the brakes have warmed a little. sometimes more apparent when turning. Bend the guard slightly outwards with a flathead screwdriver at the top and bottom.

Also try lubricatring moving parts of the caliper and pads as previously mentioned... this is covered in the following guide... https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-gui...-fluid-renewal-rear-cylinder-replacement.html

Thanks for the replies guys. think i found out the problem. when i removed the wheels to have alook at the pads ( which i got done at a garage beginning of year ) i noticed that there was no copper grease to lubricate the back of them. gave the calipers a quick clean and 'lubed' the pads. so far had no noises returning :D. once again thanks for your thoughts on the matter....much appreciated.(y)
