I need to change the oil before i make the 250mile trip home, as its sounding a lot like a tractor on startup at the moment.

I've had a look at halfords and im not sure if i should go with a big brand? Will it make a difference? Looking at the 5w40 fully synthetic oil

just realised today that i needed a oil filter and a special connection on a wrench to get the oil out, so ive booked it in to a garage for a service instead, just going to tell them to use the oil i supply or use some equivanlent. getting the cambelt done aswell


does £320 for cambelt and full service sound ok? or am i getting ripped off?

depends if its a cambelt kit or just a belt.

im not sure, its come up to the 5 year limit for my cambelt so i told them it just needs changing and thats the price they gave me £159, and £159 for the service (nationwide autocentre in pontypridd)

will it be ok to leave it? cambelt is 5 years old now and the oil is quite dirty... and im going to have the car at 4000rpm + for 3hours or so

why 4000rpm ?

With nationwide autocenters tho there big thing is you can take it to anyone of thier garages if there are any problems.

or i might be going up to birmingham first then back down to st.albans... so its going to be 220miles in one day

i would insist on full gates cam belt kit if you are getting it done. mine dont rev that high at 80

yeh i cant remember what it revs at 80mph but i will be doing 80+ all the way home

take your own oil as they'll use whatever oil they have in stock regaurdless of quality
