hi can any one help my frend he has a 52plate 1.2 punto and has just broken something on the gear linkage the lever is all stiff but dose not move the selector on the gearbox.you can still select gears by moveing the selector on the box by hand so its not in the box we think its on the lever any one got any idears

Are both of the selector cables not moving or just 1? Its likely that one of the ball joints has popped off underneath the gear stick.

how do i get to the ball joints under the lever. both cabels are still on at gear box end.

From under the car, you need to remove the exhaust heat shield just below the gear lever. (just above the cat) This will reveal a plastic cover. Remove the bolts holding the plastic cover to the body, and this will revel the gear stick selector cables end.
