Just replaced the head gasket (engine management light was on before) Its now running sweet as a nut again drives fine (probably better after cleaning the cylinders/ piston tops down). Trouble is the lights still on does this need putting through a laptop by a dealer or does it clear itself?

I'd get it checked out as i've had problems before with the engine managment light both being constantly on and intermittent and it can be anything really oxygen and temperature sensors so i'd personally get it checked! diagnostics doesn't cost too much if you know someone who can run it through for you! cost me 30 pounds before and its worth it just for the piece of mind!

Dave,
The engine management light on my 2001 8v Punto flashes all the time whilst driving. Are you saying it will stop doing this soon?

Brief history;
The car failed to start last Friday so I cleaned some crap from the magnet on the crank position sensor. The car started up and ran ok but the light has flashed since. I then had it checked on a laptop which diagnosed that the cps had failed. I fitted a new cps and had it checked on the laptop again. It is now clear of any faults but the light still flashes!

I've tried resetting the ecu and using the other ignition key.

I would be gracious of any constructive advice,
thanks,
MG
