So after reading much about MAF and JTD engines, I disconnected mine and got back all the power. I think I read that somebody didnt bother reconnecting it, what are the downsides of this? Is it just an MOT issue?
Not getting any warning light....So why bother replacing/cleaning?

Hi mate,

Leaving it disconnected is not really a problem. Your MOT will be fine (ie smoke emissions test) The downsides is that the ECU will be running on default settings for air flow and temparature, basically meaning that the car wont be running at optimum levels. It wont cause any major damage, but as i say, the car wont be running at optimum, and you may notice MPG variance.

Thanks....I think it'll stay like this, not sure it's worth forking out over £100 for a new MAF. Might try and clean it one day if I'm really bored with nothing to do
