I have a leak that is driving me mad, I have put a new waterpump on ( twice in fact I thiought that I had a poor gasket so I refitted it) I have a drip that looks like it could be from the pump, so where is it coming from?
To add to my problems I think my timing is slightly out now althogh I marked the timing belt before I started. Its not running right now sort of short on power coming up the hill, can anyone please help with the leak and/or how do I check the timing.
I have a Mk 2 Punto 1.2 8 valve engine
Help Please!!!!

Could be from pipe that connects on the back side of the water pump housing.

As of timing, turn the engine until camshaft pulley timing mark aligns with the mark on cylinder head and check if timing mark on flywheel aligns with 0 mark on engine block.

Yes The pipe is a push fit and has a circular seal on it, my seal through heat and vibration was flattened. Fitting a new one was easy and that has sorted the problem. I am goig to look at the timing now, so thanks for the info
Will I have to strip the covers of the timing belt to do this??

Yeah the covers will have to come off, the mark is on the cam sproket and there one on the crank aswell, that aligns with the a mark on the oil pump.
Look at the sticky at the top of the page theres photos of the marks.
