Technical Electrical Mystery?

Hi Guys - I've a a good one for you - My 54 plate Punto 1.2 8V has a strange habit. Every time I select reverse gear - the Windscreen Wipers,Blowers& rear screen heater stop functioning. After you move through the forwards gears - they start working again - but not always straight away? Any clues?

I kinda got the same problem but its nothing to do with gears, It takes about 10 minutes for them all to come on

if it is the selection of reverse that causes it then the fault is related to the reverse light illumination. i would check the rear light clusters have dry clean connections and the shared earth point in the boot is not rusty or rotten.
