Hi all.
i have a problem with my punto hgt.
since buying it there has been a fair bit,. inch and a half to 2 inches of movement in the shifter (side to side) even when in gear.
Also when accelerating hard the gears will usually crunch as your working your way up the box although its not as bad to almost non existant if you take your time and make sure the shifters in the correct position,
almost like the slack in the linkage is making having the shifter set correct difficult
now yesterday the car developed a clunk from the nearside front which sounds suspension like (its not overly loud) although the passenger in the car reported he could feel the banging at his feet when driving along,
so this morning im driving to work, clunk is still there and pop, she jumped out of 4th gear, i put it back in, few seconds later, POP back out, so on so on,
Now im fully expecting a reply saying "your gearbox is lunched" "worn syncros" etc etc,
just wondering if theres any other common problems before i have the gearbox pulled,
also is there anyone recommended for reworking these gearboxes? and what kind of money are we looking at?
