I have punto mk1 55HP and I notice that engine produce big noise in car on RPM higher than 3500 rpm. Does it appear on all mk1 55HP, because it has bad noise insulation. My punto has 200.000km.

Drive it at under 3500 rpm, youre over-exerting its crappy little engine.

3500 rpm = 100km/h It is not high speed. Problem is that small engine likes rates.

no. there are no unusual noises all the way to the rev limiter. if you have a noise then something is wrong. can you describe the noise? where is it coming from? is it a rattle or a bang or a squeal? is the noise related to road speed or only rpm?

if its a whining then probably a loose belt

my fan belt was loose about two years ago, and it made a great whining noise, i used to tell hotties that it was the supercharger

The noise related to only rpm. It sounds like old car, sounds like raging if it is right word to describe it because I am from Croatia and my english is not very good. On low rpm i don't hear engine, but over 3000 rpm it sounds like old car.

Do you have correct oil in engine?

Maybe you hear alternator bearings, tensioner or water pump.

when was the cambelt last changed? (how many years and how many miles ago?)
