Broken plastic on key

the plastic that is used to connect the key to key ring is broken, hence keeps falling off.

should i just get a new key cut ? ... so that i have a key with a stable bit of plastic on it

i cant afford to just carry the key round incase i lose it.

Re: Broken plastic on key

you will need to have the new key coded for the imobiliser to deactivate when you put it in the ignition.

This depends on whather your car is a mk1 or a mk2, if its a mk1 the key cutters should be able to copy the code from your key. However if its a mk2 you cant get a coded key from a cutting place you have to go to fiat and pay around 100 for a new key.

Re: Broken plastic on key

you can just drill a hole in the key to attach the keyring, just be sure to avoid the chip, mine has a hole in the top left of the key, quick fix till u can get a new key.

Re: Broken plastic on key

any good lock smith should be able to clone your blue key, ask around in your area, shouldn't take long to find a place.

Re: Broken plastic on key

yes it does, would be advisable to tell em its chipped, but usually a clued up locksmith will know what ure talkin about. jst make sure u tell em its a mk1 cos mk2's are painful on the wallet to get a new key.
