Hi people

The alternatior belt on my Mk1 has developped a lovely squeal. It happens more when i splash through a puddle. Anyway, after a squealing session yesterday, the batter light came on on my dash.

My question is, does the light actually mean that the battery is low, or is it just simply that the belt is slipping on the pulley, therefore the alternator is not charging?

Also, to adjust the belt tension, is it a hard job. Its a MK1 55S M reg.

it means that the alternator is not charging the battery properly most likely the belt

Make sure the tensioner isn't dying on you or anything else needs changing while you have it in pieces!

Does it have a tensioner, i havent looked yet, but i thought the alternator pivotted?

I have Mk1 55 S and I can confirm that alternator belt has no tensioner.

loose belt if it's squealing.
