Me again, with yet another question about MkI Punto's :p

Does anybody know much about the diesel models? Is the spec any different?

I've never considered them before as petrol is pretty much the norm and more common, so I know nothing about them

Are they better/worse? Cheaper or more expensive to buy, insure, run and repair?

Cheers :)

i have a diesel tdsx punto and i have to disagree. it is slow and noisy, but when it gets to 3000rpm and the turbo kicks in it kicks arse i aint no boy racer but i love the pull from about 30-70mph much more torque than a petrol. for the record its a 94 Lreg

I have driven the new mk3 punto multijet diesel and have to say... very very good, i was well impressed and would recommend to anyone, and they now come with HGT spec.

the multijet is indeed a fine engine.
the low weight of the body makes it a seriously fun car. fiat should do a hot specced version instead of or with the sporting

The ECU of the MK2 Shape JTD can be remapped to about 130Bhp I believe, Nige does it, and he has one himself, seems like a very fun car!!

Not sure if that applies to the newer multijet version.

Same here. Mine is a 96 td sxand it is a really safe car for overtaking at speed.
I tend to just sit back in my mum's later petrol 60s.
