hi every1, this is my first post on the forums...I own a 2003 Punto Active 1.2 8V...its got a custom-fitted sports exhaust which is rattling very badly when the car is revved. I've checked and their seems to be a hole in the exhaust connector which causes it to spit wen revved, and the exhaust itself shakes very badly wen revved, possibly due to a bent bracket...

What is the best cost-effective solution, I have warranty on the car which should cover the parts so if I go to have the car MOT'd they should be able to identify the exact problem, then I should be able to get it repaired for free..what do you guys think?

Check that your warranty covers the exhaust, some don't.

well the warranty covers all major parts, thing is the seller is due to repair the back seats and a rear seatbelt, as they will also fail the MOT. It is very likely that he will be required to fix the exhaust also, but wot do u think could be the problem?

You can pose the question, and as the hole is near the exhaust connector just get a new bracket on it should solve that one. should be done anyhow mine has a small gap between exhaust connector and box because of the collar holding the 2 together being crap but passed it's MOT everytime with it like that

its a common problem with this model as my aunties 04 active had to have a whole new exhaust as it had rusted and corroded away and basically when it was driven over road humps everyday and it has sethered!....

153.60p for a whole new exhaust!!

did they replace the complete exhaust section or just back box because most just cut it off and bracket the new one onto the pipe??
