Ok.. so my battery died other day.. normal driving.. normal parking... i woke up tried to drive.. but no.. crisis battery dead.. so i charge it fully.. put it in car.. it works fine.. morning later.. battery dead :(

im guessing battery.. but could it be a car defect..

My ex-GF had the same issue in her Mk2. Wasn't until we got rid of it that we figured out it was the 3rd party headunit I'd installed

thats a pain.. since i installed one a while ago.. but the battery is a reconditioned one thats been in the car since november last year..

Check if alternator is working correctly and if your radio / amplifier / lights in cabin turn off

Well.. the radio light permantly flashes.. otherwise.. that and the clock are the only thing that stays on wen engins off...

Do you have light in luggage compartment?

It's possible that one of relays doesn't turn off (for heating of lambda etc)

Just got back from work otherwise I would have replied a bit earlier - I reckon it's linked to your HU - it's not switching off with the ignition, even if you take off the face or use the "Off" button it's still drawing power. I have the same HU that was in my ex's Mk2 in my Sei just now, had the same issue until I read and followed this : https://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento-guides/46842-make-your-stereo-turn-off-ignition.html

Not had a single problem since. Obviously it will be slightly different in the Punto, but essentially as long as you are connecting the red wire from the back of your HU to a switched live feed (elec windows, cig lighter, etc) it should cure your ills

wow.. wen did the thanks button arrive .. thats the thing i learnt today..

I will go out.. buy a battery then try that out.... and let you know...

yeah that a real problem with fiats they dont use ignition lives where possible and in some cases although they use a standard iso connector for the stereo the wires are still switched odly!!the cig lighter on a mk1 is a perm live also when i done mine i came straight from the ignition barrel as this was alot easier
