My wife has a 2004 Punto with which she is having problems with the windscreen wipers. The lever that connects the two together keeps popping off on the passenger side. I have contacted my local FIAT dealer who advised that depending on what date the car was built it could have one of two different wiper motor/linkage models. One costs £175 and the other £75. Not sure which ours is yet but I'd still rather pay a lot less than £75 to fix the problem. So I have a couple of questions:

Is this a common fault with a known (cheap) fix?

If not can anyone recommend a good breaker that doesn't charge the Earth?(I've had quotes from several already using the FindAPart service and they're all more than the cheaper FIAT new price for a 2nd hand part ).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rick.

I phoned Wipex direct and asked them and they were 99.9% sure they would fit and offered a full refund if they didn't so I went ahead and bought them. I'll report on how they are when I've received and fitted them. I must say, Ken at Wipex was a very helpful chap. Quite refreshing in this age of zero customer service from most companies.

now that i think of it, can anyone help me? i have already bought the wipex set and think its great, but the bushes that the bolts go through to hold the wiper arms on are very worn on mine, so i still get wiper judder, does anyone have a fix for this???

I have a the same problem
I also bought the Wipex linkage but a couple of days ago the drivers side popped of i took it off and wrapped it in Plumbers PDF tape and it's been great.

But my Passengers side has a lot of movement but not from the linkage conection but from the part that comes after that it is between the linkage and the actual wiper anyone any ideas.

I can move the wiper up and down a couple of inches and the movement is between the linkage and Wiper blade.

If you need more info I will try and get a picture of the part.

Thx

Update:
Fitted the new linkages a few days ago and they are much better than the originals. Really easy to fit if you take the wiper mechanism out first.

Shims. You can buy very very thin sheets of brass (I think it's brass anyway) and wrap it around the bolt. The problem is that you have a steel bolt going through a plastic sleeve. The plastic will wear away over time allowing more and more movement. The shims will fill in for the worn away plastic.
