Hi Guys I was wondering if you could give me any help with a problem that I am currently having with my 02 Punto 1.2 active.

The battery is constantly dieing on me. I thought at first this could be becase of a bad battery, this was swapped and the problem still remained. I have since taken a muliti meter to the car and found there is a constant 2amp drain going from the battery to the electrical box under the bonnet.

From there I have managed to find that it going to the electrical box under in the front of the car near the steering wheel.

I assume that 2amp is obviously too high to be draining constantly from my battery and wondered if you knew what the drainage should be roughly?

Also I wondered if this was a common problem, somthing i could fix myself or a garage job.

Basically any info you could give me about this would be great.

Many thanks,
Chris

nope, not done bugger all to the car.

The only things that have been done to the car is the wiring modification in a fiat garage to sort out an airbag light. They also added pressure to one air bag and removed a little from the other.

This was all quite a while ago though so im almost certain its not related.

The car has only done around 43k so its not asthough its had a hard life!

Ahh well, was worth asking, I had a similar issue in my Sei and my ex's old Mk2 - both down to the HU drawing a constant voltage, even with the engine off - now wired to switch on/off with ignition. This is clearly a different kettle of fish though ... checked all your earth points?

What about whipping out the fuses to try and identify which area (if any) is taking the current?

I have tried whipping out the fuses, thats how I found it was going to the internal electrical box. However the diagram in the haynes manual is differnt to what ive got in my car so I am unable to identify which fuse goes where from there onwards.

Checking the earths seems logical I suppose. How would I do that though? im a bit of a novice when it comes to cars!!

thanks for all your help guys!
