Dont know if any of you guys are from edinburgh? but the rain tonight was absolutely insane!

Cant remember seeing rain that heavy in a very long time!

Basically, i was driving down out of town and came across a massssive puddle, which was pretty much a dip in the road that had flooded.

The whole road was covered and my only option was to drive straight through, turns out it was deeper than i thought and nearly came upto the bonnet!

When i got out the other side i had a massive reduction in power and for a good few miles the car was spluttering and almost backfiring?

I expect this basically means i got some water into the engine?
after a while and a few splutters later she started to run okay again.

Just wondering if there is something more serious im overlooking here or if it should all be okay?

cheers

when driving throught a ford - there is a good chance that you have yes sucked somewater in the airfilter - its probably a good chance that its now needs changing

i would inspect the Spark control thingy ma jig unit - Thats just at the side of the air intake box, check no water is in the plugs, if so you need to dry them out with a little WD40, and some patience, check all the HT leads for splits which may have also caused water to make them act faulty

Check all your other amenities, like Washer fluid - as the cap on that isn't a great sealer - good chance u've filled up with rubbish water
