Well my punto mk2 sounds like a baby diesel that hasnt broke its voice if that makes sense lol. Its like a higher pitched noise compared to actual diesels and makes the noise that diesels do. Is this normal or is there something wrong or failing?

It's not a diesel Punto is it LOL ?

All four healthy petrol mk2s that I drove are at the quiet end of the spectrum, compared to other cars in the class. They are a fairly quiet car.

1.2 16v

what oil it got? it needs 5w/40 or will sound like a diesel

10/40 is thicker when cold, so makes the hydraulic tappets noisy

5/40 Selenia FTW

Could be your aux belt for your alternator squeakety squeaking.
