Hi,

On my 5dr punto mk1, my drivers side electric window doesn't work. When you press it, the eletric motor whirrs, but the window doesn't move. The passenger's side electric window works fine (when pressed either side). The rear windows are manual.

How easy is it to get into the door to have a look? I have no idea where to start. How easy do you think it'd be to fix? Would I have to buy a new motor/mechanism? How much do they cost & where from?

Any help is greatly, greatly appreciated!

Colin

getting into the door is easy and the mechanism and motor are all one thing so that's what you'll need to by before you even look

i just got a manual one for about 20 quid from fiat so maybe electric somewhere near 50 60 or so

you undo all the screws and allen keys thou the handle

and pull the door card away being careful not to rip the push clips out of it they will click as they come off there mating clip on the door

then lift the door card up to release the seal from the top

then using a Stanley blade carefully cut the weather sheet away from the door cutting along the glue line in such a way as it can be re atached to the door and not leak in water

then under this is the regulator held in with 4 10mm bolts

2 for the motor

2 for the mechanism

to remove the mechanism from the glass yu need to pull out a plastic c clip

when fitting the new window regulator firs wind it fully down after it is loosely in place and attached to the window then tighten the bottom bolt

ten wind it up fully and tighten the top bolt

that way it will align the mechanism for you making the window work much smoover and faster
