Ok my car is a 2001 punto 1.2 and has a very annoying and sometimes scary problem which i cannot seem to get an answer for. When i take the car to garages they cannot find an answer to the problem.
The problem : In idle the car will self Rev and sometimes to the point where the car becomes very shaky and very loud .... embarrassing looks from passers by etc ... When revving the car wont get a bite in 1st gear .... but if the car revs when i am in 1st or second gear the car will speed up by itself ..... the problem stops in 3rd and higher gears though. The problem is very erratic and sometimes i can dive for a week with no problems and some times i cant stop without it happening at every opportunity.
I am grateful for any help as the mechanics still haven't a clue as to what the problem is ......
