Hey guys,

For a while now, my handbrake light comes on on the dash when driving around (most definitely with the handbrake off :p) and a couple of the needles flicked up and down when I used my electric windows.

I figured it must be a dodgy earth after I tried fitting an RCL kit but after securing the earth back up, the needles are behaving but the handbrake light still shows up.

This is on a '97 Mk1 Punto, 75SX.

Any ideas?

Check your brake fluid level, that light also works as a warning for low brake fluid

I know the brake pads have been done on a previous service and my car has only done 63k, I can't imagine it's them so I'll check the brake fluid level first.

I pressed the button in on the reservoir and it looks like it's at a normal level but I heard this reading can be very wrong sometimes. Is it worth just topping it up anyway?
