Hi, i brought a MK2 V reg fiat punto 1.2 16V ELX for a first car about 5 months ago. i passed around 3 months ago and, in the last 2 months the car has developed a rattle whilst accelerating in the lower rev range. A mate of mine recons it could just be noisy tappets. does anyone else agree or have any ideas

Where does the rattle come from?? If its the engine bay, then yes it could be tappets related. Have you checked the oil recently? and what oil are you using in it? as its common with puntos to get ta petty engines if you are using the wrong grade of oil.

Could you describe the rattle better?? Is it metallic? It could be a loose exhaust heat shield, or exhaust mount. Really depends what sort of rattle it is and where its coming from.
