I have an N reg punto sitting in my garage , its a nice little burgendy punto 55 and im looking to drop in the 1.4 turbo.
Id like any information on the swap that anyone has and would like to know if theres any companys that can do this for me ?

Cheers :)
Dave

first thing to consider; is your little N reg punto special in anyway, or is there nothing stopping you from selling it and buying a GT?

You will need the brakes and suspension components from a GT to make the 55 safe with a GT engine in it, it will also cost more to insure than a standard GT.

irrc this guy has done the swap;

Its just a toy for me , something i want to do .
Its not got MOT though it does run well. I have a ZR for my main car

yer so basically anybody know a company that will swap it for me ?

Hey,

Not to sure of any companies that do the swap but you could try find a rear collision write-off at a breakers yard and see if you can buy the engine from there. :):)
Maybe ask fiat themselves to do conversion, but that could be quite expensive lol!! . . . . . . . hmmmm Perhaps not. lol. Not too sure mate.

do it yourself, give your self something to do, my friend is hoping to put a 55 or 60 punto engine in his cing, and hes doing it himself.

it'll be a 60 engine the 55 is the same. its a nice easy swap. a 1.4 into a 55 is not so easy though.

as dave said, if you can't do the work yourself then it really is not worth doing. It will cost more for another company in labour than it would to buy a working PGT.

Just buy a GT. if you was going for bigger like 2ltr (can't buy),then you should just do it ur self as a wee project on the side

But he has another car to drive, he wants to do this as a project..

I say just do some research and do the conversion yourself. You'll have a nice little track car once all the mods that go with it (such as breaks and suspension) are done (y)

Spot on ! :D

yeah boy, i think you should do it!!!

its exactly what i want to do,

i have a 1.2 60 SX punto, and a 1.4 turbo,

i want to swap the engines,

Look, the guy asked for some advice on doing it, not to be told his idea is a waste of time!

and i gave my advice, don't bother. but i also gave him the name of someone else who had done it, and pointed out about brakes etc which is more information than you have offered on the subject so don't bother getting uperty with me :p
