i have a 1.2 16v sporting and it mis's in first gear mainly when u give it a boot but not everytime it happens.
any ideas where i should start first.

Is it a misfire, or does it jerk badly. If it jerks badly in lower gears then I'd check the rubber/plastic pipe between the air filter housing and the throttle body. If this is split, it will allow extra air into the engine and cause the jerking. It'll happen in all the gears but only be noticeable in 1st/2nd due to torque reaction. That's always my first check for rough running.

check the HT leads and sparkys, look at the ht leads in the dark to see if there is any spark coming out of them, also for whit residue. to check spark take the HT lead out with the spark plug attatched and put it to a ground to see if it sparks up. movement for the engine could be opening up a split in the HT leads or lead. hope this helps

cheers for the help boys
no it is deff a miss fire
checked the plugs now and cleand them up better now,
but there was a white powerie residue on the solid plastic of the ht lead that goes inside the head.
wat does that mean.?
thanks
