Well I've had my Punto for just over 3 months and hit my first mechanical problem with her.

Anyway, this is presently immobilising my car:


This is the tensioning cam to my timing belt and was causing an aweful noise when I parked up earlier, having taken it out (with alot of help from my housemate) this was found to be missing about 50% of its bearings. As such I need a new timing belt set, anyone have any ideas of how much it'l cost to buy the parts, and where from?

hope you marked the belt to the cam and crankshaft first not to worry if you haven't, so long as the shafts dont move you should be fine. If they do, you'll have to re-set the timing.

good good your tensioner is £9 at shop4parts

don't loose that 4 hole thing in the middle, you don't get one of them in the new kit

I'l keep that in mind (avoided the pun!) though I rarely use that desk for anything but 'emergancy' holding rather than the other desk thats full of other stuff.

New part arrived today, which I'm really happy about seen as I didn't get chance to order till 2pm yesterday! free keyring....

anyway, mounted and working fine, found i had an airlock in the radiator system, thats now been sorted aswell and theres just an odd sound when idling, but 100rpm above and it vanishes, hard to ddescribe.

anyway thats to be fixed another day! (when i find whats causing it lol)
