:mad::mad:hi had a few problems...new to this site ...can anyone help...my punto is a year 2000 1.2 16v sporting...when i accelerate the car judders now...it then started overheating...sorted that....it now is only firing on 2 cylinders and the idle is rough...the head gasket was replaced 7 months ago...all the works re skimmed bolts plugs belts so on....replaced the plugs again today and it is still the same..misfiring and idling roughly and when you accelerate it does not respond....cheers...any ideas:cry:

hi...getting a diag test tomorrow...was thinking along the line of ht's and coils first before the ecu....just don't ant to ripped off by garage...seen the coils on ebay at good price...thanks for your help...i'll let you know how i get on

if it is not sparking on 2 "coil paired cylinders" (1&4 or 2&3) then it is coilpack failure. inspecting for sparks is easy, and free, so i would do that before going to a garage.

Still no good.:confused:..cars still no different..:mad:..new coil pack today... however old one was knackered and was only firing on 2 and not 4.....now all the leeds are sparking fine...but problem not solved....had a diagnostic and came up with no major electrical faults...which means it is Mechanical but what?...any what??:bang: It sounds like a tractor...its stalling and its got no power on acceleration...:cry:

hi how do i reset the ecu??? what other signs could show for the head gasket?:confused:

I have had a number of punto's down on two cylinders & when i cleared the fault code it fired on 4 for a few seconds & then back to two cylinders
Replaced the ecu & all was fine

this is common on 8v engines not 16

my first thought would be head gasket again maybe a mistake was made do you know for sure that he head was skimmed

have you had the oil changed right before these problems and if so what type of oil and grade

as some punto mk1 16v's suffer from valve jacking if 10w/40 is used instead of 5w/40 or 5w/30

Start @ the beginniing have you got good compression on all 4 cylinders , Will tell if it's mechanical or electrical
 
Hi........i have had a compression check an cylinders 1 and 4 are at 200 really good but 2 & 3 are vertually nothing.....:bang: does anyone have any ideas?
 
dont be fooled by the readings on compression test had this before. replace the ht leads most common thin with this engine
 
No compression not going to fire end of story min 110 psi per cylinder for combustion
