could anyone tell me where the earth points are on my 2001 punto.
i am having intermittent starting problems, i have been reading other threads it could be a bad earth connection but i'm not sure where to look.

follow black wire from battery it should go to 1 bolt on body an then on to gearbox, the gearbox one is often the dodgy one

I can confirm that. Broke down on Saturday morning and the RAC found that the earth wire on the gearbox had completely snapped off. Temporary repair later and all running till Friday when I take it in for a more permanent solution.

where are the other earth points in car

The HGT has a small one at the back of the cylinder head for the electronics. I'd bet the smaller ones have something similar.

Each light unit will have its own earth pint, but if lights are ok leave well alone.

looking for the main one from alternator and that

The alternator is earthed through the main engine/chassis/battery earth. The wires are best part of 10mm dia so not too hard to spot

mine only got power coming from alt

Hi,

I changed the oil sump today and I noticed an earth directly above the sump in the middle of the engine. Easily accessible from underneath.

Sorry I can't remember exactly where it was, but wires went towards the alt.

Just after the New Year I had the unfortunate pleasure of hitting a deer at about 65MPH it made a right mess of the front off side of the vehicle. New bumper, o/s headlight, o/s wheel liner, o/s coil spring shot, bonnet shot. Thankfully percy the punto is nearly back to good as new, problem is the battery is not holding charge, can anyone tell me where the earthing point is on o/s headlight.

its in the multiplug on the lamp.

battery has probably died from being unused and cold though
