A friend of mine has a Punto 75elx (1997 model) and has a problem, the engine turns over but will not start as it appears there is no power to the fuel
pump (the float works!). Help :worship:.....

ps - have checked and no power is getting to the pump, only to the float????????????

Have you checked the fuel cut off switch on floor beside passenger seat? push the button down to reset it. Does the pump run briefly when you switch ignition on? If not I would guess the fuel pump relay or maybe a wiring fault. If the pump runs intially after switching ign on, then stops and doesn't restart when cranking engine over, it could probably be crank sensor (remove a plug lead and check for spark) or possibly ecu. Haven't got my manual handy to check whether there is a separate fuse for fuel pump, but I suspect it feeds via one of the heavy fuses under bonnet near battery.
