what oil do you use? i currently using millers 10w 40 semi synthetic for turbo diesel's, its time for another oil change, well not quite, iv only done 4k but i need to do a flush, iv got to buy it from ebay cos i have the money in paypal you see and i cant get it out.

iv been reading that 0w40/5w40 is better for cold start ups? maybe this is why mine sounds so clattery/tappy when its cold with the 10w40 i dont really understand oil only want to spend about £25.

and does anyone know if engine oil has a use by date? as id imagine the ebay oil is old stock at cheap price.

oh i need a new sump nut too, anyone know what size it is? does it need to be from fiat? or can i just fit any old bolt in there? lol

iv bought the stuff yes.

on shop4parts, they have a sump plug and it says for 99-03 mk2 punto, all engines.

are all the plugs the same?

if so i need a favour off someone who uses shop4parts and has paypal

think il go with the 5w-40 shell stuff then, but anyone know about shelf life? i can imagine that stuff being from like 1997 or something stupid

it should be ok as they're sealed containers, you need more than 4L though.

what sump plug have you got as most fiats are tapered fit whereas mine isn't and has a washer which you replace when changing oil

spend the 5 bob and get the paypal money out and then go halfords, then ebay the screw drivers

you sure? my last oil change i used a 5L oil bottle, and its got about half a litre left in it, and iv been doing top ups every few weeks, if its over 4L it must be like 4.2L? or something.

i dont know but i know its badly rounded off and im sure it was a torx bit, not allen key.

mines an 8mm allen key, the one on shop4parts is tapered fit 12mm allen key

and how do you know what it is? they just look the same to me, mines just a mushed up mess lol.

im worried cos if i take to get it oil changed and its wrong, il have the flush in it and i wont be able to take it back for another week.

one has a slight taper the other has a flange which tightens against the washer and sump
the tapered one normally sticks out a little and you can see the thread

Bravo happily did 10k on the stuff and the oil still looked good - for a turbo diesel anyway!

I have just got some Selenia WR 5w-40 and shall be putting it in this week to replace my Selenia TurboDiesel (10w-40)

Will let you know how i get on

Why did you decide to go for 5w-40 instead of 10w-40, do you think it will make cold start ups better?
