how big is the diameter of the punto core plugs? i saw elseware they were 51mm is that correct?

i went to buy my new ones today but the wanted a sample or the correct size, none of which i had,

when i add my new antifreeze, should i expect holes to apear ll over my engine, ive been topping up with only water for the last year :D,

well... the occasional bottle of anti freeze, i actually think thats why my core plugs went

and the metal water pipe deffanently just pulls out right, theres nothing to loosen...

thanx all :D

For what it's worth, I've only ever had core plug problems on engines that were topped-up regularly with water ;)

I think you know that cast iron/alloy engines need some sort of coolant to reduce the inevitable rusting and alloy corrosion that otherwise occurs. That said, it'll probably be OK once you finally find and fix the leak...!

Sorry that I can't actually answer your question so I'm no help at all. The core plug that I can see on my 1.2 16V looks more like 40mm. Maybe you are better off to get an engine shop to change the core plugs on the spot - they find it pretty easy to do and they have a range of sizes right there, ready. I hate getting those things out - you're lucky to even see them half the time :)

Cheers,
