Hi,

Has anyone successfully bought a second hand Auto Gearbox ECU from a salvage yard?

I cannot afford the £650 being quoted by Fiat for the work, am desperate to find other alternatives.

Car won't select gears, diagnostic says G/box ECU has "water damage" (Prob due to Heater Matrix) and faulty ACC Pedal switch!

HELP...any advice? I love my car, but can't afford the parts quoted on ePER.

Thanks all,

IDO79

... have found a spare, so my next question is

"are the gearbox ECU's plug and play i.e. do i need to get the new one coded to my engine with the red key (via Fiat), or will it automatically pick it up once installed?"

Thanks again, definite donation coming from my wallet if i get this sussed ;o)

Make sure the labels on both ECU's match, e.g. model and engine size, and then its just a simple matter of un-plugging the old one, and re-plugging in the replacement. Nice and easy:).
