got pulled over tonight as i was driving with my fog lights on. i got nervous and when the cop asked me about insurance i was like "erm erm" and sounded abit dodgy like i was hiding something.:( he let me off anyway sayin its a warning. he wrote some stuff down. have i got anything to worry about? would i be on permanent file now?or anything like that?will i receive any letters? never been stopped so i dont know what happens.

just dont drive with them on again. in the worst case senario people get 3 points on there license. If you have not beeen driving for 2 years take care until you can get upto 12 points. insurance wise if youve got insurance you should be fine but if not screwed. Most proberly why he asked you about insurance is that if you admitted it he could arrest you and youcould get a ban or jailed. insurance checks are quite commen. one tip. if youve been pullef over, be friendly towards a officer not aggressive and demanding why have i been pulled, never admit to anhything coz sometimes they dont have evidence " if they pull you for speeding sometimes they dont have it on video and just hope they make you admit that you were speeding. Just ask after a few mins, what was i pulled for?" It does help.

everyone out there i seriously recommend this , really good and i have got one,

not like you committed a murder, i wouldn't worry about it,
police came to my crash scene, did an insurance check and everything was fine, told me to drive on because i'd already exchanged info with the bloke i crashed into, had no police correspondence since

how come you were hestitant when he asked you bout insurance?

Doubt there will be any permenant damage. However I hate to be harsh but I am glad you were stopped for that. It's one of the most annoying things on the road and to be honest it's dangerous if your driving with the rears on as it distracts people from your brake lights.

If your gonna run your fogs when there is no need then expect a slap! In 13 years of driving I have NEVER had to use my foglamps front or rear and I drive about 50k a year.

I got pulled about 2 weeks ago for having my fog lights on, in the fog! I was told that the fog wasn't thick enough for me to have them on and i got a 30 pound fine.

If that was me, the fine would go straight in the bin. If they ever got back to me about it, straight to court.

"fog wasnt thick enough"

Surely theres got to be a line of compromise:rolleyes:

same thing happened to me last mad friday. Except instead of the copper pulling me, he started flashing his full beam at me for ages, so i done it back (not realising it was a police officer, and then they pulled me :( lol. I wasn't doing it to look cool though, there was thick fog from where i had just came from. The copper was a real bitch about the whole situation.

No, there isn't. The Highway code is specific.

"The Highway Code, states that front and rear fog lights must not be used unless visibility is seriously reduced - which generally means when you cannot see further than 100 metres (328 feet) - and that they must be switched off once the visibility improves.

Using rear fog lights when visibility is greater than 100 metres can mask the brake lights and dazzle those drivers following, thus increasing the risk of a rear-end collision rather than reducing it.

Front fog lights should only be used where visibility is seriously reduced and should be adjusted so as not to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other road users. The inappropriate use is dangerous as it can affect the oncoming driver's ability to see cyclists, pedestrians, and also the road"

If you can't estimate 100 metres with some degree of reasonable accuracy then perhaps driving isn't a good idea.

front fog lights or rear ones?

to be honest, front fog lights are pointless coz all they do is the light up the fog if its too thick and you can see even less. and they blind everyone else if the fog isnt thick enough. ive never used mine.

if your worried about people not seeing you in the fog, tape your horn down ;)

so what about aftermarked spot lights? are those clased as fog lights or can you wire the up to your full beam or something and they be allowed?

i was hesitant because simply i got nervous as iv never been pulled over really ( dont worry i aint got nothing 2 hide:) lol). i just love having my front fogs on:) hehe. they say tho they can put people off?but i always see people with theirs on when not foggy and i dont see how they "affect peoples vision". dont bother me personaly lol.:)

Have never seen the problem with them, its the tits that drive on full beam that are the problem.

tbf mate, just don't use them, i learned my lesson about having mine on, someone got out of his car and threatend to smash them off if i didnt turn them off, i just turned them off and drove away with him doing 10 mph and slamming his brakes on every 2 miniutes, till i turned into a side street. just don't use them

Don't be an idiot.

1. It really does not look cool, if you think they do you really have a small mind to please.

2. It's illegal.

3. They are pointless and don't help visibility in either fog, or clear.

Also on a side note, some idiots can't even correctly strap a bulb into the correctly seated position - this applies to side lights, and fog. So when they are driving around it just out right blinds you.
They are by far the worst people and should be shot.

Spot light - aka Driving lamps, like the ones in my grille, and to be wired into the main beam. Can't be used as normaly headlights because they'll blind everyone:D.

Fogs (front or back!) only to be used when visability is below 100Meters.

I thought the same thing when driving home on the A3 last christmas.
I had a lorry tailgating me just so it could see where it was going (about 10M away)

If you have you Full beam and Fog lights on in proper fog you will be blinded, i think the best thing is to have only the normal headlights and fogs on that gives the best visability as the fogs light up the road more and you can slighlty better.
