3 Door punto electric windows PLEASE HELP ME AM TOTALLY FLUMOXED!

Am having a problem with the electric windows on a 3 door Punto, the passenger side works, albeit very slowly, but the drivers side doesnt. I have connected the drivers side window motor directly to a 12v supply and it moves up and down fine, this makes me think that either there is a fuse for it that I dont know about or the electric window controller has gone wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions about this as I am totally flummoxed.

Cheers,

John

Cheers for the reply mate

I took all of the fuses near the steering wheel out and none of them were burnt through. As far as I understand, the fuse for the windows under the steering wheel is also the fuse for a host of other things, is there one that is specific to the window motors? I've heard there's another fuse board somewhere with relays an all? any ideas?

those fuses are for the windows, one left one right
try putting a meter on the window motor to see if its getting power
on the slow window try using silicone grease on the window frame as it might just be sticking

I'm still having pretty much the exact same problem, some people offered some pretty good advice but i still haven't been able to resolve it yet.
I've got My MOT tomorrow and it won't fail on windows so i'm going to have another look next week.

Have you checked the fuses on the passenger side? in the glove box is another fuse box with relays for central locking (if you have it) and fuses for fog lights, electric windows and something else. Theres also another couple of relays (i think) in there that i'm not sure about.

My Haynes manual arrives tomorrow aswell so hopefully that will provide some insight

Try replacing the square black 50A relay in the dashboard fusebox - this 'Services' relay provides the power for the electric windows.

The next culprit would be the switches themselves - Haynes wiring diagram indicates that full motor current flows through the switches. I would remove them and spray some contact cleaner in, working them a number of times - worked for my tailgate switch. To remove the switch panel, first remove floor console, then lower dash trim (heater controls cover), screws at edges and at heater vents, except top edge which is clipped in. This then allows you to remove the switch panel.

Are you able to test the voltage that is reaching the window motor(s)?

This is going to sound a little odd but i've just accidently fixed mine.

Open the drivers door and look at the black electical connector that goes to the door, unscrew this, blow, then re-connect making sure it's tight when it's tight give another part turn, "click". should be sorted.

When changing my door over I experimented with the connector it appears as though the drivers window connector doesn't engage until the last turn ("Click"), no-idea why mines's like that, but it's a quick check so you might as well.

Can someone tell me where the relays of the electrical windows of a fiat punto are located?

I do found 4 relays in the glovebox; 1 big yellow, 2 small black and 1 medium sized black one. But after removing all relays the electrical windows keep functioning.

Amazing! I had the same problem and your solution worked a treat.(y)

I'm a newbie to the forum having the same problem with my front windows on my mk1 60sx.
Which fuses are f47 & f48? I have no manual or diagram as to which fuses these are. Looking head on to the fuse box near the steering wheel, what row are they on (e.g second from bottom etc) and which column (far left, 2nd from right etc).
I also discovered the other fuse box in the glove box. Are the fuses in there anything to do with the windows, or is it just one of the relays in there that affects the windows?
Many thanks in advance

Hey mate I have just had the same problem. my Left winow in working fine but the right side not at all. We have tested the current to the switch and have found that there seems to be not enough current only 1.9 volts. Still havent solved the problem yet. Does any one no where the control unit is for the electric windows?

I might have to try that because my passenger window works but only slowly so there might be a bit of dirt or something that's draining the power out and not making a proper connection. Cheers mate i keep you posted.

Hey you lot, new guy to the forum, got a mk1 sporting with the exact same problem, passenger side window works (slowly) but only off passenger side switch, but the driver's side with the passenger side doesn't, won't even light up.
I have checked the fuses, all ok, and have tried the other gentleman's post about tightening up the connector on the drivers side door, all to no avail.
getting a multimeter and checking out some wires, keep you posted.

My daughters Bravo had the same issue.

Removed the door card. On my daughters the plug had worked it's way off the motor. Spot of superglue and some tape sorted it.
