Recently purchased a 2000 (X) 3d 1.2 Punto for a first car
For it age its in very good nick :) only a few little stone chips on bonet - but hey its 7 1/2 years old

Anyway
Im Not one to mod a car (Rc maybe not a 1:1 car ), but i have to admit - tbh i dont like my Speedo Dash that much........

How much would it cost to say have a Fiat Punto (mk2) changed from the
Version where you just have a Speed and Fuel Gauge

To The Version With A rev Counter and Temperature gauage as well Would of posted images but since im under 5 posts i cant

(see about uploading into gallery )

can you do that if it doesnt already have it? You should of got the sporting version, their speedos look great and have all of what you said you want

Mine is just a Standard 1.2 3d Punto
Its Not a sporting or anything

More of a questions does anybody know if there is all the connections behind it for it?

The reason why i didnt get a sporting as insurance was one of the things that had to be good for me to buy it, been a young male sucks

all mk2 speedo's will fit all mk2's
just make sure the new one has lower mileage than yours then get it aligned at fiat dealer about £60

here's my two; one from jtd other from hgt

The One on the Left is the one i sort of fell in love with

I dont know what it is about Rev-counters but i just like them :)

Would My Local Fiat Dealer (up the road from me) be able to the whole change over and alignment?
I am aware tho that they WILL charge me a Bucket load....

Ziggy

yep but they probably charge you £100 just for fitting and alignment
its easy to fit yourself, just four allen bolts in the surround 2 top, 2 bottom
, 3 bolts holding the unit in and a single conection on the back, it should take 10min max

So its that easy?

I think it'd be a nice little project for me
And then just gotta nip upto the fiat to get them to align it all :)

Need to find 1
need to Ask fiat a few questions
And when funds apply doing it :D

Ziggy

BINGO

Now to perswade parents (A)

And it should be a simple case of a drop old one out - and connect new one and in it goes? :)

Also will the millage be the same? or will that have to be reset?

As already said in this thread you will need to buy one with lower mileage than yours and get it "proxy aligned" at your local Fiat dealer which corrects the mileage and stops the display from flashing. (y) You need to get one with lower mileage though, Fiat can only put the mileage forward, they can't put it backwards.

Ah i thought alignment was only the dials
Why did i think about that?

But yeah getting a clock with just under 70k aint bad :)

If it was like 10miles over that aint that bad really, but yes i'll look at getting it looked up :)

is it possible to go from dials without rev counter etc to one that has? and is it as easy as removing old one puttin new on in place with same wires?

Thats what i doing :)
There are 2 units on Ebay, however the user hasn't Noted the Millage on them.... so there well outta the picture tbh....

Unless there is a way to wire them up to just see what the millage is....
Shame about that tho :(

EDIT 2: I just had a go at taking mine out :) Its toooo easy.... *keeps looking*

i dont understand how it goes from not showing revs and temp to showing it with just a simple switch over ? why include the wiring but not the dial?

Thats what give different models there distinct features :)

The Versions without a say a rev counter are people who aren't looking for performance, just a car to get from a to b

As for the wiring, i think the plug has all the pins - but the connector has blank parts, so not all the information from the computer is been displayed :)

Anyway im taking there word that they will work :)
As i really do miss a rev -counter :)

Ziggy

yeh im confused as to why the wiring for a temp gauge and rev counter is there when there are no dials to show this...unless the dials are changed
