OK, so I'm gonna go for Selenia again, but I read here that red can one is better than yellow can ...

Yellow is Selenia Gold right (5EUR/liter), and red one is marked "k" (7.5EUR/liter)? I saw blue one "performa" and one marked "wr" (I think)

Which one for petrol engine 1.2 16V :D

OK, so I saw what oils there are, but I wanted advice, which one for my petrol 1.2 16V engine, but not to go too wild with prices
I saw littlepip17 saying red one is great, but its full synthetic, is that ok? Until now I used selenia gold which is semi synthetic

And another thing....engine flush....Im having problem finding a "over 5 EUR" one, but when I find it (off course Ill read the instructions but) any advice how it is used? You pour how much directly into the engine and can/should drive with that for how long?

God damn, I used gold 2 times allready, 8K miles, all regular and back door garages told me that one is fine...
Gonna use performer then, just need to check if price is not over 10 EUR per liter, if it is I'll use the red one ... "k"

well selenia is such a good oil i wouldn't worry to much it tends to be the cheap ****e 10w40 that damages the tappets

if it's not tapping now it wont start taping

It taps only when very cold, doesnt tap if its first start that day and the temperature outside is over 10 Celzius, so I guess its ok...
First time it tapped was after one day of very revy drive, oil went to the minimum and I got scared I thrashed the engine, but it was a coincidence that that morning after day of revy drive was the first very cold day in the year
I think people here recomend gold for 16v engines so overall service is cheaper and they are sure you wont damage the engine and kill them :D

well cold start taps are not a problem it's just a case of oil presure building up and the cold causing things to contract does it's part in the noise too

it's a common misconception that thicker oils stop hydraulic tappets from tapping when intact the opposite is true hydraulic tappets need thinner oil to allow them to draw it in quick in between every rotation of the cam loeb allowing them to recover the clearance stopping the tapping noise

the thiner oil will also help on the cold mornings so you may fix that too

heck you had me worried for a minute there... my car has always tapped on cold mornings (n)

when i first got the car, i had no idea what had been run through it - it was filthy black and the filter rusty, even though the dealer said that he had changed it :)tosser:)
running performa k 5w40 since january... so tapping on cold startup is safe and normal?
oh, and when i stop the car for 5secs, then start up again, the noise goes away - 99.9% of the time. i cant explain this at all...

can you put my mind at rest please?

I've got a change coming up and am planning to put Mobil 1 0W-40 into my 1.9 JTD/80HP with 125,000 miles. Anyone have any ideas pro or con?

well if it had had regular oil changes for selenia from new i'm quite sure it would never tap

but obviously it hasn't and is now tapping only when cold

it's nothing to worry about aslong as it don't do it when warm

if your now using the correct oil and looking after the car it wont get any worse

as for the stopping and starting seemingly making the tapping disappear when leaving it to run does not this is because tappets that have been under compression over night ie valve open have slowly been pressed until the oil within them has leaked out

when you come to start the car there is no oil in the top end meaning when the tappet is released and allowed to expand it may be sucking in a little air instead of oil

then because it is being repeatedly pressed with air in it does not get a chance to refill untill the oil is warmer or the car has been run for a short wile at higher rpm

but if the car is stopped and that tappet again ends up being pressed it will press the air out of it then when started again it will suck in oil as the head gallery has now got some oil in it

it's luck of the draw really which tappet makes a noise on start-up depends were they landed last time it were stopped

I know I'm borring but....I'm gonna change oil and clutch on monday/thuesday/wednesday, and really wanna do a decent job...

I saw Selenia racing, its a 5w60 and its just 1 EUR more expencive than performer, should I go for this one then, or its not for me little engine :D price is not the issue its almost the same (at the end I'm gonna buy Mobile 1 for 15 EUR/liter :ROFLMAO:)

And I'm gonna use engine flush, I saw one for 5 EUR, hope its good, I saw no expencive ones, but tell me, do you have to use engine flush when changing from 10w40 (gold) to 5w40 (20K, performer) and to 5w60 (racing, I think for this one you must)
And gonna use oil and petrol cleaner aditive :D

I'm also gonna change gearbox oil while I'm there (Tutela), will gearbox oil additive do any good? (I wanted to cry and laugh when I heard of this, for a minute I thought is there a gearbox flush, I could do that also :ROFLMAO:)

selenia hpx would be better

for cars with more than 100k miles

have a look on there site

http://www.flitalia.it/en/fl/component/option,com_dspcatprod/Itemid,254/

not sure about 0w/40 thou little thin for diesel yours has solid lifters anyway not hydraulic so 10w/40 would be quite appropriate

It does run quieter with the Mobil 1 0-40. I don't know what was in it before as it's the first change since I bought the car. I was using the Mobil 0-40 in my Idea without any problems and 0-30 in my former Clio 1.9D and got over 201,000 miles out of it. :)

Results:

I bought Selenia performer (5w40, didnt know until today there was 5w30 also), did the engine flush before change, and oil filter off course.
I'm not quite sure but I think tapping when cold hasnt gone, but I'll get back to ya again in day or two

I also changed gearbox oil, gearbox carrier, cleaned throttle body and a clutch....more results on the clutch here https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-technical/138198-clutch-buy-no-valeo-my-country.html
