Technical Starter motor problem

hi, i have a 1.3 multijet punto on a 03 plate has anybody had a starter motor problem.The car has only done 23000 miles just wondering if it was a common fault on these engines as it seems to be a low mileage for this to occur.Is there anything i can do to cure it or do i need a new one

Does the motor sometimes work ? & does it usually fail after a fast run?

Sorry, when i try to start i get a clunk and then nothing.if i try it when it is left over night it will start first time but when the engine is warm it can take up to 20 times before it fires up

i'd say starter solinoid sticking
try removing the starter and cleaning and grease the shaft then refit and try it out, if this doesn't work you probably need a new starter, get one from motor factors much cheaper than fiat

Hiya shaun, May by Replace solenoid switch or id get a reconditioned Starting motor it's easy to do.
