Hi All,

I have a problem with the remote central locking on my '98 Sporting that I was hoping for some advice on...

Without warning it has stopped working. First thing I tried was replacing the batteries in the key. Twice. No luck. (When the button on the key is pressed the red led flashes continuously- this indicates it's working ok??)

I also tried cleaning all the battery contacts on the PCB inside the key.

I then located the receiver module on the car (in the boot on the RHS next to the speaker?). On the module there is a green led and what looks like a reset button. After the button is pressed and released the green led flashes once every couple of seconds for 4 flashes and then stops. Any ideas what this means?

Any suggestions would be gratefully received! :D

this is the self destruct button...ur car will explode at this point!!;)

couldnt resist that mate.

is it working now u pressed that button? are the motors trying to lock the doors?

:D It wouldn't surprise me!

Still doesn't work after pressing the 'reset' button. No motors moving, nothing.

Would take it to the garage, but the car is only worth a grand (high miler) and I don't fancy a bill for several hundred quid after they replace bits randomly trying to fix it...

the buttons used for coding additional remote keys.
if the light on the key works and its got new batterys in it thats allmost all you can do without randomly replacing parts like you said :D
