I've got a Mk2 Black 1.2 8v Punto, and want to fit a new exhaust (my current standard exhaust is on its last legs. It has a hole in the back box) I have about £100-150 (inc fitting) for a new sporter exhaust.

I really need some advice!?!?!
I don't want it to be noisy, i want it to sound quiet and normal, but look sporty! I know punto's have small engines (and i have no intention of any engine mods) but i want my exhaust to sound more better. Smooth and quiet in the low revs, but when i slam my foot down and red line it i want it to sound sporty :)

I've been looking at two:
A 3" Sportex - but i reckon this will be too noisey.(£99 + fitting)

And this one from eBay. (£59+ fitting)

I sent the guy a message regarding him making me an exhaust for my Punto - this is his reply
hi, a direct replacement would be £59 more than you see on the ebay lsiting.. the one in the listing is really easy to fit to your model though .. here?s how it works.. (quite easy to fit).. we supply the parts to fit these and they come with the CORRECT INLET DIAMETER FOR YOUR CAR so just need your make, model, year and engine size when making payment.. these fit by cutting through your exhaust pipe immediately behind the old back box, then removing the old back box and installing the new one by bending THE HANGERS THAT COME WITH THE NEW BACK BOX and connecting up either by welding or by using flexible steel exhaust tube and clamps which we can supply at additional cost as a FITTING KIT which is of the correct diameters and size for your particular car. cheers
I need some advice

Picutres are welcome. Might help me make up my mind

this is what mine sounds like, cam is quite close, its a 4" slash cut sportex backbox with the centre section from an 8v punto, its not that loud, but does give a nice sound imo, up to you whether you like the sound, nice car btw =], having just driven my car it sounds crap in that vid, it's a lot deeper listening to it in person, and there's a pic in my gallery

I've actually heard your exhaust before (I'm not a stalker) I came across it last night on youtube. I like the sound of the sportex exhaust, but it has the constant grumble noise, even when the cars not being revved.

I like your Red Punto, defo think you need to take off the door bumper strips. The red looks really smart and sporty!!

What do you reckon to the ebay one???

problem with taking badges/strips off red fiats is that red paint fades easily, so theres a very noticeable mark from where the badge/strip has been :( , happened with my badges and so i'm leaving my strips on......oops did i go off topic?

you make an annoyingly valid point, i debadged the back and now it looks pants and blatently obvious i've taken the badges off =[, it'll be the same with the rubstrips aswell,

back on topic, you could get a centre silencer fitted, although then you wont hear a thing unless you stick your ear right next to it, that's if you're not a fan on the grumble on idle

back off topic - i debadged mine a few months ago and theyve become less obvious, new paint fades faster than old paint so eventually they should blend in, just need lots of weathering :)

to get that sound you'll need a supersprint exhaust, there not cheap and hard to get hold of now but should be within or just over your budget

Many Thanks, will look at the supersprint.

If i was to look at spending my £150 on something else (not an exhaust) any ideas. Lowering etc. . . (inc prices)

Many Thanks in advance

lowering kits are around £120 for 40mm and 60mm (same price) and its easy to do done my car 60mm in a morning

Cheers for the advice.

Does anyone recommend a good brand that does a 40mm drop (do i need just the springs, or the whole shock) an will a 40mm drop look a lot different.

Any ideas where in london is a good place to get them fitted??

Many Thanks

Hi I was interested in the same part on ebay since I thought it might withstand corrosion a bit better than the last 2!!

I think he is taking the mick with his prices, since he never mentioned anything about it costing £59 more than the listing price to me, although he did confirm everything word for word after 'we supply the...'.

His fitment kit seems reasonable for £15, I was checking the prices of the flexi pipe and it's about the same.

Did you pick the exhaust up in the end, what was the final price, and is it any good?

ye i think i got one near me was looking at an oval tail pipe one each side do u rekon it wud suit the car when u had the exhaust done wat sound did u ask for im looking to have a deep note

heard that the super sprints are good what noise did u ask 4 when u had it dun im looking to go for a deep note

When I got my powerflow one done, I asked for quiet as possible with a slight sporty note. Was great when new but within a year it was blowing like buggery (due to the crap low quality steel) and as a result burbles, pops and bangs like buggery. Saving up my pennies for a Supersprint :).

just found a company called longlife heard they do really good systems ganna try and book myself in this week looking to get sum wheels next month looking some 17s but wanna no how much work needs to be done looking to lowering it 35mm is there any arch work that needs doing

had my exhaust done by longlife only had the back box today sounds good going back next week to have the centre section it aint that loud because the size on the silencer in the middle box is making it quiet
