hi was just wondering how many miles per gallon do you geton your 1.2 16v puntos i checked mine tonight and it said 39.2 miles but i have been driving a little fast only coz its my new car. im not sure how much i should get if i drive a little slower

im gonna try slowing down a little and see if i get anymore, im still getting use to this car i have had it since saturday and im still reving a bit much when pulling away coz im used to driving diesels and i find you have to be heavy with the pedals so when i get a little better hopefully it shoudl get more miles, does the computer sort the miles per gallon even when you dont see it on the screen all the time i have my miles showing

Its calculated all the time even when you don't have it displayed. I wouldn't trust it too much tbh. I can remember having 36mpg on my trip computer after 40litres and I worked it could manually and actually had high 39mpg. Could have been due to the bigger alloys .

i get about 37-40 mpg on the trip meter usually, thats commuting with a number of stop-starts.

i zeroed the tripmeter once, then redlined it in every gear, the first reading that came up was 21mpg ;)

i have had an apparent 75mpg once  although 55mpg is attainable if its 60mph on a very long, straight, flat road :D

its strange how that trip computer works.... i suppose it just adds another data point every time, stores them all, and averages? it must be able to hold an awful lot of points, because after a week of not resetting it, the mpg hardly changes at all.

dave, that must have been one VERY impressive "private road" then :p

re set the trip counter then drive for ages never going above 3k revs and it should go up

i just came home on a private road doing 90-100 and mine didnt drop below 33mpg

tried this, even tried resetting the ecu.

It starts off about 43mpg, then if I let it idle or reg it a bit it goes down, but never goes back up :(

I've got a sporting speedgear (52), I commute 40 miles a day in fairly heavy traffic, I don't drive slow but generally don't go over 4000 revs and mines usually between 37-40mpg. Work it out manually and it seems fairly accurate.

Once drove from Leeds to Sheffield, 30 miles, motorway + A roads + city centre and got 54 mpg (no traffic). That was keeping it under 2250ish revs, on a flat speedgear will do about 70/75 at those revs.
