is the haynes manual lying? it says that i can't take old bearing out of rear hub on a mk1 and press in a new one, says hub will be knackered and i have to get new, also is the bearing 2 piece or 1 is the middle supposed to come out?

thanks for that,
is the middle of the bearing supposed to come out though?
i took them off the white punto because its easier to fit new brake shoes, and the middles came out on one side i just regreesed it and put it back, but on the other side the middle would not go back in, so i took one of the black punto and the middle bit did not come out, i fitted that, then i went to the breakers and got 2 new ones the middle bits on one car up there were lose but the other car was ok, but when i pushed these onto car the middles poped out again, there was no play in them so i regreesed and fitted them ,

a common mistake when refitting those hubs is when refitting them not putting them on square, and the bearing gets stuck half way down the shaft, when you pull it off again after that it usually leaves the inner race on the shaft which can be a bugger to get off; ive never seen middles come out before tho so id say no.
