not true for fiat your thinking of code one keys that can be duplicated made and programed with ease

not code 2 rolling code it's impossible

there is the cars code required there is a code within the fiat examiner required then you need the can interface hardware software a means to get hold of roiling code key chips ad keys then you need a code from the body computer to put on the key for the car to except it as one of it's keys then you need to give the key another code and the car simultaneously to start of the rolling mathematical code sequence whilst not losing any other keys from the ecu

you have heard complete rubish

if it was posible i would be the first to tell of a loop hole to the system but it's just too tight

so wrong mate . as an auto locksmith i am making keys for these vehicles almost on a daily basis , soon i hope to do by post ,once i set a rig up on my bench . i dont know if you work for fiat but if you do please dont beleive what your being told . to tell someone they have heard complete rubbish is well out of order .

well let us in on your secret;)

Not this is it;
"As a rule, if you need keys for a fiat code 2 car, these need to be ordered by VIN Number from the dealer. NOT ANY MORE Send the immobilizer unit...
£200.00"

there is no secret , a good auto lockie will get you under way if you have lost all your keys within the hour of attending your car , bearing in mind this may require picking open ,decoding the lock , taking the BSI out of the car to decode the info to put into your new keys , refit BSI,and program the keys onsite . if this vehicle was within my working area it would be approx the £200 you are mentioning .
However , a spare key should always be cheaper and quicker from guys like me compared to the dealers, and a damn sight faster ;)
I am not here for only myself , if you need an auto lockie near you just put your post code into Advanced Diagnostics locksmith finder

i hope this helps Fiat drivers all over the UK , cheers and a happy new year ,Steve

Lockset (normally kept in stock) for punto including fitting & programming (2 hours labour) is around that price (£208 from memory last set fitted) which to be honest is safer as if original keys are found/recovered they are useless and cant be used to even enter the car.

which is not much use to someone who needs it moving asap, keys ordered on a friday would not be availiable untill till when ?

(tuesday, no monday deliveries, although next day [sat] if ordered before noon)

I think anyone driving around with only one key (on a modern vehicle) deserves all they get when they lose the only key. Its false econonmy & the inetivable is just going to happen one day...it's sods law!

for sure, you are correct there . i have approx 20 all keys lost jobs a week and am constantly amazed at the amount of people who have been driving around for a year or more with only 1 key ,
generally speaking on a spare key its only between £30 to £120 for a spare key to be programmed. That can go ballistic! ,when all keys are lost on some vehicles .make sure you get 2 keys for any fiat ,or you risk a hell of a bill

Did look into the Megamos crypto transponder and soon realised that the lower memory area was pre-programmed leaving mid memory(visible) to be self programmed, and upper memory (hidden) ready for programming.
Mid memory can be easily copied, lower memory can be reset by our friends in eastern europe, (£2000 for the kit).
That leaves the upper memory to be resolved to complete a clone job .. not easy.
Life being too short and pocket being £2000 too short decided that Fiat have got a replacement system that works, so theres not much I can do to supply a cheaper key.
Tony.

we do not clone these , we write them into the bsi the same as fiat do . however the eastern europeans you speak of are working on a way of programming the key straight into the bsi without external tester being needed

In Finland I have Fiat punto mk2 and one blue key (no remote).

I ordered another key (no remote) and i have to pay 186 euros immediately and when the key arrives i have to drive to the dealership and pay 69euros to program it in mycar (45minutes).

Key pays at least 20% of my car value.

I think this might be a good busines in finland (no one but dealership can do it for now in here) if the obd-programming will work and the equipment dosent costs too much.

Sorry my bad english :)

Folks, this covers a new key but can anyone explain why a key would suddenly lose its code (the spare works fine still) and can this key be re-coded or not.

Thanks

Most likely the BSI unit has lost track of the key somehow, its all kept there in nvram, so diagnostics would be required to re-load it in. Incidently crypto blank transponders are available, but they would need loading in as a new key would, and definately not copyable.

Hi there ... I might ask a silly question :)
I bought a Punto 2001 ELX Speedgear from Germany. The dealer didn't have any card code with the car. So now I am trying to find a way to get one just in case (keys are working fine).

However I read some postings about cars not being delivered with code cards which makes me think that it did NOt come with one.

I checked the booklet that came with the car called "Fiat Service" and on page 28 (it's in German) there's a printed code card with numbers in it.

Even though I am almost sure of the answer I'll give it a try with my silly question: is that just an example or is this a real code card ?

Thanks.

I know this is a pretty old post but it's relevant to my question and didn't want to start a new thread.
I've basically lost the only key I had in the snow somewhere in my area, got carried away in a snow fight and didn't realise it fell out of my pocket til I got home :(. Anyway just spoke to my local fiat dealer, he claimed that I needed atleast 2 non remote keys at £78 each, and I have to pay an extra £60 for the labour which he said will take half an hour. Now my question is do I need 2 keys? When I challenged the guy on the phone and asked why 2 keys, he said that one needs to be in the ignition whilst the other one is being programmed and I can't do it without 2. To be honest that sounded a bit strange to me so I told him what he said was a bunch of BS! and that I only need one key (I was only bluffing when I told him this lol) he began to stutter and claimed that was what the technician told him. Also I read somewhere on the forum that they charge £60 for an hours labour this guy is charging me £60 for half an hour. Again when I questioned him on that he said thats what the technician has told him and when I asked to speak to the tech he started waffeling on about he was busy with a customer :S.. Can anyone please tell me is this guy trying to mug me off or is all the above correct?? Many thanks I am due to pick up the keys on Saturday so would love a response before then! Happy new year to you all..

Bit of problem with me too, basicly I only have 1 blue non button key for my mk2 punto 52 plate. So im stuck for what to do incase I lose it and dont want to fork out £200 for a key to be honest.Do I go to fiat and pay for one or do I get local locksmith to cut me one that will work the locks, any
