Just wanting to pick somebodies brains about biodiesel and whether it is possible to use it in a W reg Fiat Punto 1.9 Turbo Diesel ELX? Am getting sick of the increasing petrol prices and was wanting to find out if this would be an option.

Does anybody know, if it is possible to convert the car to take biodiesel, how much that would cost and does it cause any damage to the engine long term?

Also, whilst I'm asking does anybody else have a problem with rusty bits on their Punto?

You can use a bio/petrodiesel mix in the JTD, only thing that would need replacing is the fuel filter as the biodiesel tends to clear out some crap that the petrodiesel leaves in the fuel lines which can clog an old filter.

Think a 50/50 mix is ok, a few people run it on the forum

mines been running on bio diesel for over a year, i find it runs best on a max of 90% bio.
no work needed to use bio just put it in the tank and off you go, you may have to change the fuel filter after 1k miles because it cleans the tank and fuel lines

Really? 90% is quite a lot, why not go for 100%?

And up to 90percent? Do they increase? How do you measure it out?

upto 90% it seems to drive same as on diesel i think its because its remapped on diesel so it needs that little bit of diesel to keep it happy

have fun fitting the hid kit when you get it, just noticed it in your sig

Can't be worse than changing the ps headlight bulb on a toyota yaris lol

have you tried changing the head light bulb yet? now imagine the bulb has about a foot of wire on it and you need to attatch the ballast box somewhere and drill a 25mm hole in the back cover

Well the headlights are coming out anyway for detangoing so will kill 2 birds with one stone

Hi I'm not that up on bio diesel but i have a little rust here and there on my mk1 punto its called little red it has gone where the jacking points are on either side and in the front footwells in an asymetrick patern.
Good luck on the bio diesel it sounds the right way to go.
